Tribute to Karl Saurer

14 January 2021

STEINAUER NEBRASKA from 1997 is performed at the Solothurn Filmfestival online, as a tribute to Karl Saurer, who died in 2020.

The three Steinauer brothers from Einsiedeln emigrate to the USA in 1852 and found a place still named after them today. Their story tells of pioneering spirit - but as with many white settlers, it is linked to the decline of the "Natives". Karl Saurer's film is a cyclical story about migration and a reflection on gain and loss.
Advance tickets go on sale MO, Jan. 18, 2021.
A film discussion with Elena Hinshaw-Fischli and Küde Meier will take place on SO, Jan 24 at 5:30pm.

Franziska Reck was associated with Karl Saurer for decades in friendship and advisory exchange and was allowed to produce his last two films AHIMSA and RAJAS REISE. We continue to be encouraged by his persistent commitment to greater social justice.
